ROLF

Favourite Movie Quote: TBD
Rolf is Far Out Flick's owner and proud operator. The business started back in 2002 with Rolf's personal VHS movie collection and has grown to tens of thousands of VHS, DVDs and Blu-Ray. If you ask Rolf what his favourite film is, he doesn’t hesitate. “Monty Python and The Holy Grail, and he declares,” I was into it way before the cool people caught on.”
Although he is an avid comedy fan and loves “schlocky” horror, Rolf’s greatest passion, since age 17, remains live concerts making him the go-to guy for over 500 music videos and DVDs at FOF. Rolf is likely the biggest Alice Cooper fan in K-W, having been to all almost all of the Coop’s live gigs. FOF regulars are well acquainted with the Alice Cooper doll perched atop FOF’s gigantic horror section and the matching miniature Alice figure behind the counter from Billion Dollar Babies – complete with guillotine and snake.

RAY
Favourite Director: Christopher Nolan
Favourite Genre: Sci-Fi
Favourite Movies: Momento & The Prestige
Favourite Movie Quote: TBD
Ray has been at Far Out Flicks since it opened in 2002 and his friendly nature is felt as soon as you walk in the door. He is also one of KW’s biggest Maple Leafs fans and it's not unusual to hear Ray and FOF regulars discuss Leaf game strategies and players. Ray is an avid photographer and loves to film nature in Victoria Park. Striking images from a Blue Heron with a brilliant orange goldfish in its beak to gorgeous telephoto lens views of seasonal flowers often become wallpaper on the store computer.
Like Rolf, Ray loves film and he loves sharing that passion with FOF customers. He’s happy to help people make their movie selections because he has very eclectic tastes and will watch independent films to fine tune his already vast knowledge of movie genres. If you’re trying to find a rare movie, Ray’s the guy to come to. He will source the best edition of the film and the best price. Refreshingly honest, Ray will tell you if a movie is going to cost too much and he will wait until more suitably priced one comes up.

CORAL
Favourite Director: Armando Iannucci
Favourite Genres: TV Dramas & Comedy Movies
Favourite Movie: In The Loop
Favourite Movie Quote: "Don't get sarcastic with me, son. We burned this tight-arsed city to the ground in 1814. And I'm all for doing it again, starting with you, you frat f**k. You get sarcastic with me again and I will stuff so much cotton wool down your f**king throat it'll come out your arse like the tail on a Playboy bunny. I was led to believe I was attending the war committee." (Malcolm Tucker, "In The Loop")
Coral has also been at Far Out Flicks since 2002. Like Rolf and Ray, Coral loves film, and working at FOF informs her research as a national freelance journalist and radio host. The biggest thrill for Coral interviewing someone from a film and discovering the story behind a classic scene – David Johansen in Tales from the Crypt’s cult famed cat manoeuvre or a nude Graham Chapman rushing out to the multitudes in Monty Python’s The Life of Brian.
Coral loves all aspects of the film process from dialogue to special effects to directorial style be it Scorsese, Greenaway, Huston, Coppola, The Coens or the Farrellys. Like Ray, she is constantly fine-tuning her knowledge of independent cinema, especially Film Festival movies. Coral is also a huge fan of all the HBO films and TV series from Six Feet Under (she owns the entire series) to The Sopranos (she watched five seasons in one month) to Deadwood and Carnivale. To her, HBO is theatre on the small screen. She also adores Brit Wit, concert video, cartoons and very dark humour.

Nancy
Favourite Director: Wes Anderson
Favourite Genre: Horror
Favourtie Movie: Halloween (The 1978 original of course)
Favourite Movie Quotes: "I'm gonna get a diamond, crystal speed boat, and I'm gonna paint it gold" (Ronnie Dobbs, "Run Ronnie Run") & "What one man can do, another can do" (Charles Morse, "The Edge")
Nancy started working at Far Out Flicks in March 2014. She has always had a love of both movies and books and is especially happy when she finds the rare case of a great movie adaptation of a book. She would say that "The Godfather" and "The Exorcist" are two of the best examples of this. She is a very passionate about helping people and she is a regular volunteer at a local charity that helps some of the most needy of our community. She also very much enjoys yoga and hopes to one day obtain her instructor's certificate.
Nancy turns her love of both people and movies into a very valuable asset for FOF's customers. She is always eager to hear the reviews of movies when they are returned and she uses all of the information she gathers to help other renters make the very best choice. While her first love in film is horror, she enjoys pretty much everything -including FOF's extensive selection of documentaries.
“The whole of life is just like watching a film. Only it's as though you always get in ten minutes after the big picture has started, and no-one will tell you the plot, so you have to work it out all yourself from the clues.”
– Terry Pratchett
