Rolf Glemser
If you ask Rolf Glemser what his favourite film is, he doesn’t hesitate. “Monty Python and The Holy Grail,
and he declares,” I was into it way before the cool people caught on.” Rolf’s always been one step ahead
of the competition.
He honed his technical craft working eight years in film transfer at Video Entertainment Corporation, so he knows a little something about cleaning VCR’s and other
tricks of the technology trade. Then Rolf became a regular vendor on the Southern Ontario flea market circuit, in Cambridge, St Jacobs and Grand Bend. But flea
markets took a lot of time and energy and travel, especially on weekends. With Rolf’s personal movie collection now totalling 10,000 VHS, opening an independent
store seemed the next logical step. Far Out Flicks, now five years old, started from Rolf’s personal VHS collection and has flourished – currently at 15,000 titles,
7000 of them DVD’s. Though he’s avid comedy fan and loves “schlocky” horror, Rolf’s greatest passion, since age 17, remains live concerts making him the go-to guy
for over 500 music videos and DVDs at FOF. Rolf is likely the biggest Alice Cooper fan in K-W, having been to all almost all of the Coop’s live gigs. FOF regulars
are well acquainted with the Alice Cooper doll perched atop FOF’s gigantic horror section and the matching miniature Alice figure behind the counter from Billion
Dollar Babies – complete with guillotine and snake.
